With Comic-con comes all the best things about being a huge nerd: the cosplays ,the merch, the people to nerd out with (away from your other friends who think Avatar: The Last Airbender is “just for kids”), and—perhaps my favorite part—all the nerd–themed food.
If you’re as big of a Bob’s Burgers fan as I am, then you know how much of a big dill it is to hear that there were not one but two Bob’s Burgers–themed food trucks at this year’s New York Comic Con. I swear I’m not yolking around. The two food trucks each had one burger hungry visitors could choose between, “the Bob” and “the Louise,” a.k.a. the “Carrot on My Wayward Bun” burger and the “Natural Born Dillers” burger, respectively.
The Bob consisted of confit carrot, Sir Kensington’s mayonnaise, pickled carrots, jack cheese, a burger patty, and lettuce, all sandwiched in perfect harmony between two potato buns. I don’t carrot all what you think, but I thought this sounded delicious.
The Louise consisted of dill-infused Sir Kensington’s mayonnaise, sour cream and onion potato chips, American cheese, a burger patty, and dill pickles, all between two sesame seed buns. You can imagine the pickle I was in trying to decide between the two.
Obviously, I got both.
Biting into these burgers was like starring in a fast food commercial. The Bob was juicy, the carrots gave it a subtle crunch, the jack cheese flavor cut in just right, and the potato bun was a perfect end to a perfect bite. The Louise was just as juicy, the chips giving a more satisfying crunch, and the dill pickle flavor was on full blast. If you don’t like pickles then I would suggest the Bob, but my favorite was the Louise. Fries were an add-on, but all burgers came with a tote with a burger on it, a bottle of Sir Kensington’s special sauce, and a sticker of a fry dipped in ketchup.
Overall, everything was eggs-quisite, and I wish I had had another burger to munch on while writing this. I’m getting melon-choly just thinking about it.
You thought that was the last of my puns? Romaine calm, it wasn’t. If you get a chance to check out these burgers, the creator, Alvin Cailan, has a restaurant called The Usual in the Nolitan Hotel in New York. Make sure to stop by for a bite. I’m sure you won’t vinai-regrette it.
