BoJack Horseman—Netflix’s Hollywood-skewering series about a talking horse with alcohol problems, depression, and his host of friends trying to make it in this cruel world—returns for its fifth season on September 14.
The news was confirmed by the show’s darkly funny Twitter account. The new episodes will drop on Netflix.

BoJack Horseman, which was created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg and stars Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Paul F. Tompkins, and Aaron Paul, is widely regarded as one of the smartest adult sitcoms on television in any format. Last year, this publication previously devoted an entire suite of stories, exclusive interviews, and crude jokes to unpack and illustrate why that is.
The last season ended on an uncharacteristically positive note for the show, pointing toward a path for redemption for its emotionally broken, frequently self-destructive protagonist. I’m jazzed to see what the next season holds.
