If you, like me, have already watched everything in your #quarantoon stash (twice) and are craving something fresh, Titmouse has some good news.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, their cult-favorite 5 Second Animation Day will take place on Twitch this Friday, March 27. This tradition started in 2008, and the livestream will serve as a substitute for the cancelled Vancouver screening set to be held in the Rio Theater.
“We always want to make sure the artists’ films are seen by an audience,” said Titmouse president and founder Chris Prynoski. “When the challenges of this pandemic made it clear that our Vancouver screening was not going to be an option, I decided to beam it directly into the viewers’ brains! I was told that technology does not yet exist, so we are streaming it on Twitch.’’
The 90-minute screening will showcase personal work from the studio’s artists, who’ve helped create series such as Metalocalypse and Venture Bros.
None of the 145 shorts have been rated by the MPAA, meaning this watch party is intended for adult audiences. (Our apologies to any younger readers, despite our not doing anything to attract younger readers. What are you doing here, children? Shoo!)
So forget about being trapped inside for a bit, and jump on this rare chance to enjoy some out-of-the box animation from both established and up-and-coming creators without having to attend one of the in-person events.
