Dressing up in costumes, gorging yourself on candy, and watching scary movies—is there any holiday better than Halloween? In the real world, no, but in the fictional town of Gravity Falls, June 22nd provides a second spookfest right in the middle of summer.
Despite being created to give the show a Halloween episode without diverging from its summer vacation setting, the idea of Summerween is one well worth adopting into our non-animated existence. Get enough folks involved and you might even be able to sway a small town into making it a tradition!
Whatever your candy-corn ambitions for the holiday, it’s the perfect chance to get into the Halloween spirit while the weather’s considerably less frigid than during the fall version of the holiday. So without further ado, here’s six ways to celebrate Summerween in real life!
1) Carve a jack-o’-melon
Spruce up your summer digs with a festive lighting option made from some seasonal fruit! Go with the traditional style if you like to keep things classic, or switch things up a bit if you’re feeling fancy.
2) Watch some scary flicks

3) Party with friends
Grab your buds and paint the town red with fake blood! Alternatively, you could chill by a bonfire to honor the midsummer traditions that may have inspired this fictional festival.
4) Face the existential dread of getting older
Summer holidays are the perfect time to reflect on the passage of time (and the body hair that comes along with it). But never forget the words of Grunkle Stan himself: “Ha! Still got it!”
5) Eat some candy corn
Sure, it might not be your favorite, and it might be kinda hard to find this time of year. But you don’t want the Summerween Trickster to get you! Trust us—you don’t. Eat your candy corn.
6) Watch ‘Gravity Falls’!
…it’s about pure evil! So enjoy the antics of the Mystery Twins, their family, and the many cryptids and space demons they face over the course of the series.
