My Hero Academia 0322: “A Talk About Your Quirk”
Season 3 of My Hero Academia is wrapping up, and we’re following every move. Just be careful: spoilers and speculation below.
After weeks’ worth of filler and drama, the provisional license exam is through. Those with licenses are permitted to act (and fight!) in emergency situations, which will definitely happen since organized crime is on the rise.
Pretty much all of Class 1-A passes. Todoroki and Yoarshi didn’t pass (and neither did Bakugo, because manners matter), but they (and others) will get licensed after a 3-month-long supplementary class. The first exam was just to weed people out. And oh yeah, Camie is Toga, she transforms using blood and got a bit of Deku’s. It’s nice to see her get some substance and check in on the league, who’s hiding out in a sewer or something.
Meanwhile, All Might drops by Tartarus prison to chat with All For One and track down Shigaraki. In a monologue, AFO nails the current situation among both heroes and villains: Endeavor hasn’t yet made a splash as the new top hero, and criminals are taking advantage of the crumbling hero society by mobilizing in the shadows.
Back at UA (It’s the eve of second semester! These kids really don’t get a break!), Bakugo tells Deku to meet him later for a talk. They end up at the scene of their first fight, and Bakugo spells out why he suspects that Deku now has All Might’s power. He’s dead-on (and pretty much figured it out on his own, with hardly any context) and Deku can’t even speak. But at this point, Bakugo’s not interested in talking: he wants to fight and prove his superiority.
The Verdict:
“A Talk About Your Quirk” gives us a glimpse of what’s to come both at UA and in hero society, so lots of foreshadowing for next season. But before we get there, Bakugo’s gotta work through his emotions.
Rating: 8.5
