Wanna Visit the ‘Totoro’ Theme Park In 2020?

Have you heard that there will be a theme park!? Have you!?

Editor’s Note: In today’s #JHMhijacksDnL post, I condemn Eric to an expensive fate. (Or do I?)

I don’t know if the media frenzy over the news that Studio Ghibli plans to open a My Neighbor Totoro theme park in Japan in 2020 has made it clear enough that Studio Ghibli plans to open a My Neighbor Totoro theme park in Japan in 2020, so let me make it as clear as possible: Studio Ghibli plans to open a My Neighbor Totoro theme park in Japan in 2020!!

Just look at all these headlines and tell me that the excitement is not palpable:

I mean, even the Onion is covering this! Well, sort of:

Studio Ghibli Opening Anime Theme Park

Obviously, the question “Do you want to visit Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbor Totoro theme park in Japan in 2020?” is not even really a question. We’re talking about a lasting physical incarnation of the genius of Hayao Miyazaki here! The real question is this: Who wants me and Eric to lead field trips!? (First stop: Aichi Prefecture. Next stop: Jiufen, Taiwan, for the Spirited Away face-stuffing portion of the evening. Third stop: paradise.) If you’re interested, let us know. (Got ya!)
